Is Avast SecureLine VPN Legitimate?

Avast SecureLine isn’t a bad VPN. It’s quite fast, allows torrenting, and logs connection information. Mostly, it is leak-free, so all your personal information is safe. SecureLine is legitimate, as it comes from one of the world’s largest antivirus companies.

Why is Avast SecureLine VPN on My Computer?

You may have consciously signed up for this VPN, or you mysteriously found it on your computer. Much of this was down to the Avast marketing model.

Avast believes everyone wants their products, so they semi-force them onto users. If you don’t realize this, Avast can gain an advantage through the number of installs.

It came to light when users of CCleaner were installing the app and found they had Avast installed as well. Avast purchased CCleaner from Piriform and included their apps in the installation procedure.

Rather than check the boxes to add software, you needed to tell the installation routine not to include the Avast VPN client, or it would be installed automatically.

You can pick any country such as the USA, UK, Australia, or other they support. You can find congestion a common problem when you want to enable a connection with SecureLine in the same VPN location.

  1. Turn off the power on your router
  2. Remove from the mains socket wait about 1 minute
  3. Plug everything back in and turn on your router
  4. By doing this, you empty temporary configurations. Make sure you can see the antivirus utility system tray icons working. This shows if you can establish a connection or not.

Clean Boot Your Computer

If you have similar apps or services running in the background of your device, Avast SecureLine will not function. The major culprits are third-party antivirus software and the Windows Defender firewall. (Read our Avast VPN Review)

Clean booting your machine is one way to check. Switch off third-party antivirus software, Windows applications, Windows Defender Firewall, and more to determine where the issue lies.

  1. Press Windows + R and open the Run box. (open control panel)
  2. Type “msconfig” and click the OK button.
  3. Select the Services tab and check “Hide all Microsoft services.”
  4. Select the “Disable all” button to turn off third-party services
  5. Select the Start-up tab.
  6. Select Open Task Manager link.

  10. Try connecting via your internet connection.

If you are successful after turning off Windows software, Avast is conflicting with another application somewhere.

Check any apps you can use without conflict with your VPN application. Make sure all the antivirus utilities system tray icons have stopped and are closed.

If this occurs, you’ll need to decide which software is more important. VPN services can keep you safe, yet it could be the case of needing to either reinstall Avast SecureLine or remove it altogether if it’s causing issues with your internet connection.

Too Many Connections

If you have a family license, you can register five devices and go over this, and the error message “Maximum connections reached” will appear.

Disconnecting VPN clients from the VPN connection service is the solution. Disable the service on any inactive computers or mobile devices.

Contact Avast SecureLine VPN customer service if you think your Avast SecureLine VPN Key has been used without your permission, as you can’t use the VPN after removing VPN clients on redundant devices. (Find the Best VPN for Your Needs)
