HOB, Inc. Announces the Release of HOBLink J-Term v. 3.3

Many new features in the smart software suite from HOB, Inc.

Cadolzburg, Germany (November 20, 2003) - HOB, Inc., a leading provider of Java-based connectivity technology, has updated and greatly extended the functionality of HOBLink J-Term, their modular, platform-independent terminal emulation. First released for general sales in 1997, HOBLink J-Term was the 99th product to be certified by Sun Microsystems as "100% Pure Java." HOBLink J-Term provides enterprises with a wide range of terminal emulations, for example, 3270, 5250, VT, HP700, SINIX, and Siemens 97801 can all be emulated with HOBLink J-Term. Now, with version 3.3, Siemens 9750 terminals can also be emulated via RDP with this platform-independent terminal emulation program. And, because HOBLink J-Term is completely modular, enterprises only buy those components they need, thereby obtaining a custom-tailored software solution and reducing cost.

Now more flexible than ever

Already the most flexible user-friendly terminal emulation on the market, HOBLink J-Term has been supplemented with many new features that enable enterprises to fine tune it even more. The new JavaBean support feature, for example, enables technically sophisticated users to integrate HOBLink J-Term into Java applications they are writing themselves. The Express Logon feature enables an automatic logon to the host; this logon can be authenticated via a local certificate, enhancing security. Other security-related improvements are the optional SSH support, with which you can encrypt your VT communications, and that also provides you with SmartCard and MS Internet Explorer Database support for SSL and SSH. This function is available for Windows NT, 2000, 2003, and XP operating systems. TN3270 and TN5250 Resource Names can now be configured with the Telnet Resource manager, a very useful tool which also has an import/export function that enables data to be exported, for example, to MS Excel, further processed there, and then re-imported. The "look & feel" of HOBLink J-Term remains much the same, but with better, sharper color: The color depth selection now includes True Color. Now, more than ever before, 256 colors can be displayed within your terminal server (RDP) sessions. Patrick O. Graf, HOB's Director of International Sales, praises the flexibility of the enhanced HOBLink J-Term v. 3.3:

"The open port selection for all communication paths, the use of HTTP proxies in concert with SSL, and the various installation models allow you to integrate HOBLink J-Term into any network and access structure. Additionally, the JavaBean and IBM WebSphere Portlet support make possible the application-level integration into existing portal solutions."

HOB is certain that their products can stand comparison with the competition; HOBLink J-Term v. 3.3, along with other modern software solutions for today's changing economy, can be tested online, or downloaded from the company's website for a thirty-day trial period, free of charge.
