HOB Enters Developers Partnership with Sun Microsystems
Cadolzburg, 14 June 2006: HOB, Inc., the manufacturer and developer of comprehensive multiplatform connectivity and security solutions from Germany, announced today that it has concluded a Java Multiplatform Support Agreement with California-based Sun Microsystems. The object of this agreement is to establish a closer cooperation between HOB and Sun as regards developments with Sun's Java Virtual Machine. In accordance with the agreement, before Sun releases a new JVM, HOB will be given the JVM Build, which it will then test with HOB's own software solutions. Also part of the agreement: before Sun Microsystems makes the release generally available, it will resolve any errors or inconsistencies found. Klaus Brandstätter, CEO and Head of Development at HOB, is very pleased with this agreement. He said: "We want to provide our users with the greatest possible flexibility and security when using our software on any platform. Our software should run with the full scope of its functionalities with all JVM's released and supported by Sun.” This agreement is particularly relevant for the following HOB products: HOB RD VPN (HOB's Remote Desktop Virtual Private Network) including HOBLink JWT, HOBLink Secure and HOBLink J-Term, as well as HOBLink J-DRDA, a Java-based databank driver. Shortly after being finalized, this agreement yielded first fruits: the HOB developers discovered memory problems which will be corrected by Sun before initial delivery of version 1.5.0_9 in October/November of this year. Sun currently provides support for three of its JVM releases: Version 1.3.1., Version 1.4.2. and 1.5.0. Updates for these releases are available in rotation every three months.
