Hey there! In this guide, I‘ll be walking you through everything you need to know to install and start using the ApeX Sports addon on your Firestick, Fire TV, or any device running Kodi 19.
Whether you want to stream live NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, soccer, UFC fights, or other sports, ApeX Sports aims to have you covered. But is it legal and safe to use? Let‘s dive in…
Overview of Kodi Addons
First what exactly are Kodi addons and how do they work?
Kodi is an open-source media center software that runs on various devices like Firesticks, Android phones and TV boxes, PCs, and more. It lets you install addons to add more features and content.
Some addons access free content like YouTube videos. Others provide links to streaming sites and live TV channels across the web. There are also addons for music, gaming, photos, and more.
Here are a few important things to know:
-
Addons are created by third-party developers, not officially affiliated with Kodi.
-
Many addons pull streams from questionable sources. Some are legal while others are not.
-
Using unofficial addons carries privacy risks as they can access data on your device.
That brings me to my next point…
Is ApeX Sports Safe and Legal to Use?
Whenever installing an addon from outside Kodi‘s official repository, caution is warranted. We don‘t know exactly who developed ApeX Sports or where the streams are sourced from.
Before installing any outside addon, I always scan the download link using VirusTotal to check for anything dangerous:
The repository downloaded safely with no malware detected. But there could still be issues with the content itself.
Kodi even shows this warning when you enable third-party addons:
This means any addons you install could access data stored on your device. That‘s why I always recommend connecting a VPN like IPVanish whenever using third-party Kodi addons.
A VPN encrypts your streaming activity so your ISP, government, or the addon developers can‘t see what you‘re accessing. It helps keep you safe and private online.
See my guide for setting up a VPN with Kodi.
Now as for the legality of the streams…
It appears ApeX Sports may provide some copyrighted content without authorization based on my research. However, there also seem to be legal streams mixed in from sources like YouTube and social media.
Ultimately, it‘s impossible for me to say whether this addon is 100% legal or not. I can only make an educated guess based on reviewing the content and streams.
If I ever discover definitive proof that an addon is illegal, I will promptly update my review. But for now, I suggest using ApeX Sports responsibly and relying on it as just one option out of many, not your only source for sports.
For live sports streaming from verified legal sources, I recommend services like:
- Sling TV (starts at $40/month)
- Hulu + Live TV ($70/month)
- YouTube TV ($65/month)
- FuboTV ($70/month)
