Install ApeX Sports Kodi Addon on Firestick/Android (Kodi 19 Matrix)

Hey there! In this guide, I‘ll be walking you through everything you need to know to install and start using the ApeX Sports addon on your Firestick, Fire TV, or any device running Kodi 19.

Whether you want to stream live NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, soccer, UFC fights, or other sports, ApeX Sports aims to have you covered. But is it legal and safe to use? Let‘s dive in…

Overview of Kodi Addons

First what exactly are Kodi addons and how do they work?

Kodi is an open-source media center software that runs on various devices like Firesticks, Android phones and TV boxes, PCs, and more. It lets you install addons to add more features and content.

Some addons access free content like YouTube videos. Others provide links to streaming sites and live TV channels across the web. There are also addons for music, gaming, photos, and more.

Here are a few important things to know:

  • Addons are created by third-party developers, not officially affiliated with Kodi.

  • Many addons pull streams from questionable sources. Some are legal while others are not.

  • Using unofficial addons carries privacy risks as they can access data on your device.

That brings me to my next point…

Is ApeX Sports Safe and Legal to Use?

Whenever installing an addon from outside Kodi‘s official repository, caution is warranted. We don‘t know exactly who developed ApeX Sports or where the streams are sourced from.

Before installing any outside addon, I always scan the download link using VirusTotal to check for anything dangerous:

The repository downloaded safely with no malware detected. But there could still be issues with the content itself.

Kodi even shows this warning when you enable third-party addons:

This means any addons you install could access data stored on your device. That‘s why I always recommend connecting a VPN like IPVanish whenever using third-party Kodi addons.

A VPN encrypts your streaming activity so your ISP, government, or the addon developers can‘t see what you‘re accessing. It helps keep you safe and private online.

See my guide for setting up a VPN with Kodi.

Now as for the legality of the streams…

It appears ApeX Sports may provide some copyrighted content without authorization based on my research. However, there also seem to be legal streams mixed in from sources like YouTube and social media.

Ultimately, it‘s impossible for me to say whether this addon is 100% legal or not. I can only make an educated guess based on reviewing the content and streams.

If I ever discover definitive proof that an addon is illegal, I will promptly update my review. But for now, I suggest using ApeX Sports responsibly and relying on it as just one option out of many, not your only source for sports.

For live sports streaming from verified legal sources, I recommend services like:

Click Yes to continue. You can minimize this risk by connecting a VPN like IPVanish whenever using third-party addons from unknown sources.

See my guide for setting up IPVanish VPN with Kodi.

Now we need to add the repository that hosts ApeX Sports. Go back to the main settings menu and open File Manager:

In there, click on "Add source" > "None"

A text box will pop up where you can enter the repo URL:

Once entered, name the source "apex" and click OK:

4. Install the Repository Zip File

To open the addon, go to the Kodi home screen and select "Addons" from the sidebar.

Under "Video add-ons" you should find the ApeX Sports icon:

Give it a click and start streaming live sports!

Let‘s take a quick look at what you can expect with this popular addon.

Inside the ApeX Sports Kodi Addon

Once opened, you‘ll see ApeX Sports has a simple menu with sections for:

  • Live Sport – Live streams of games/matches across soccer, football, basketball, baseball, MMA, boxing, and more. This has a huge selection of links!

  • Live TV – Streams of sports TV channels and networks including ESPN, NBC Sports, TNT, Sky Sports, BT Sport, and dozens more. Reliability varies stream to stream.

  • Replays & Highlights – Replays of matches, fights, and games after they air live. Also find highlight compilation videos.

  • Tools – Settings to enable Trakt integration, view status info, clear cache, and more.

In my testing on a Firestick 4K, streams loaded quickly and quality was solid. As expected, some links work better than others so have backup options in mind if your stream gets taken down.

  • Huge selection of live sports links

  • Lots of major sports included

  • Good quality streams

  • Easy to navigate

  • No guarantee streams will stay up entire game

  • Requires decent internet speeds

  • No on-demand/archived replays

  • Legal status of some streams questionable

Overall, ApeX Sports provides Firestick and Kodi users with a single hub to access tons of live sports – just use responsibly.
