HOBPACK - the Program System for Compressing Data on both the Host and the PC

PRODUCT OVERVIEW

HOBPACK is a program that compresses files on PCs and/or mainframes.

PRODUCT HIGHLIGHTS

HOBPACK enhances the HOBLink 3270 emulation by compressing both PC and host data before transferring files and by unpacking them immediately after they have arrived at their destination. Thanks to the built-in EBCDIC and ASCII support, host data which is usually stored in EBCDIC format is converted directly to either DOS-ASCII or WIN-ANSI when it is compressed.

In HOBPACK the subprograms are contained as object-files allowing the functions to be invoked from any other program. This means HOBPACK compression can be integrated into any user-written program.

PRODUCT APPLICATIONS

With HOBPACK you can now compress data on the host and the PC using the same compression method. This allows you to exchange data among different computer systems. The lower data volume reduces the transmission times and their costs.
