HOB Telnet Gateway Extension - Installation

Prerequisites

The HOB Telnet Gateway Extension runs under Windows NT. IBIPGW03 requires an SNA gateway product which implements the SNA protocol.

This may be:

  • Microsoft SNA Server
  • IBM eNetwork Communications Server for Windows
  • HOBLink SNA Stack

Running IBIPGW03

The program IBIPGW03 should be installed under Windows NT as a service. It can also be started from the command prompt. IBIPGW03 reads its configuration parameters from an .ini-file. The .ini-file can be edited with any usual ASCII-editor under Windows NT. Please obey the rules for Windows .ini-files.

When IBIPGW03 is started, the first parameter specifies the name of the .ini-file.

Please notice that Windows will not search the file in the path currently active. To start IBIPGW03 with an .ini-file (example xyz.ini) in the current directory, use ./ to specify the current directory, or use the complete path name.

Example:

IBIPGW03 xyz.ini

Sections and Parameters in the .ini-file:

In the [TCPIP] section the PORT parameter specifies the port to be opened. If no port is specified, this value defaults to 23. There are several sections where the name starts with LU to specify the LU-pool for the connections to the host. There may be the following parameters:

LUNAME Mandatory, Name of LUA-LU.
INETADDR Optional, IP-address of client to connect. If this parameter has been specified, this LU will only be used for clients with this IP-address.
RESID Optional, Resource-ID of TN3270E-protocol. If this parameter has been specified, this LU will only be used if an incoming connection specifies this Resource-ID.

Example:

[TCPIP]
PORT=4026
[LU000001]
LUNAME=VM09T12
[LU000002]
LUNAME=VM09T13
[LU000003]
LUNAME=VM09T14
[LU000004]
LUNAME=VM09T15
