As an RDP-based solution, HOBLink UWT gives you unrestricted use of the entire range of Windows applications on the Windows Terminal Server from your Linux, Sun Solaris or Mac OS X workstation. Because all Windows applications are centrally installed and configured, you can significantly reduce your total cost of ownership with HOBLink UWT. 

Security Plus 

With HOBLink UWT you can encrypt all transmitted data based on the cryptographic functionality of the Windows Terminal Server. The following levels of data encryption are supported: 

  • “Low” encryption of data from client to server (RC4), 40-bit or 56-bit 
  • “Medium” encoding of data from client to server and vice versa, (RC4), 40-bit or 56-bit 
  • “High”-level encryption from client to server and vice versa, (RC4), 128-bit

Worldwide Availability 

Connections via standard phone lines, WAN/LAN, VPN, etc. are possible on the basis of TCP/IP, letting you leverage the worldwide availability of the Internet and guarantee global access. This makes HOBLink UWT an ideal solution for international enterprises that need to connect to Windows applications anywhere in their extended corporate network. 

Keyboard Layouts 

Besides supporting the English keyboard (US and UK), HOBLink UWT includes support for a number of other languages, e.g. German, French, Spanish, Dutch and Portuguese. 

Load Balancing 

Included standard with HOBLink UWT is a component which provides integrated “load balancing.” The client sends a request to every Windows Terminal Server and, depending on the configuration, is automatically connected either to the first Terminal Server which responds or to the server with the least load.

Windows Terminal Server 

HOBLink UWT is compatible with: 

  • Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0 - Terminal Server Edition 
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Server, Advanced Server and Datacenter Server with integrated Windows Terminal Services
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2003
Client Platforms 

Linux 
HOBLink UWT has been successfully tested on Intel-based Linux distributions from Suse, RedHat and Mandrake (kernel version 2.2.10 and higher) 
Sun Solaris 
HOBLink UWT requires Solaris 7 (SunOS 5.7) or Solaris 8 (SunOS 5.8), or higher, on a SPARC system.
Mac OS X
HOBLink UWT requires Mac OS X 10.1 or later, as well as an installed X Server.

Thin Clients

HOBLink UWT has been specially optimized for thin clients. It has been tested with the following thin clients:

  • Fujitsu Siemens FUTRO B, C
  • Igel
  • Levigo LTC 840
  • HP T5515
