Product Highlights

Connectivity via the Internet: Emulation as a Java Solution

Have you been looking for a really flexible connectivity solution?  HOBLink J-Term Thin Edition offers you a 3270, 5250, VT525, HP700 and SINIX97801 terminal emulation that runs on any computer with a "Java Virtual Machine", for example, on a PC with a web browser or on a Network Client. HOBLink J-Term Thin Edition was one of the first emulations worldwide to be written in "100 % pure Java".
Optionally, you can order HOBLink J-Term Thin Edition to support connection to Windows Terminal Servers.

Platform Independence with Java

The big advantage of HOBLink J-Term Thin Edition is that it’s completely written in native Java and,  as a result, it’s just as platform-independent. And Java-enabled browsers are offered by Netscape, Microsoft and SUN for nearly all the important platforms (Windows 95/98/NT/2000, AIX, SunOS and Macintosh).  HOBLink J-Term Thin Edition can also run on a PC that has a Java Runtime Interpreter installed as well as on a Network Client (Thin Client). No matter what environment HOBLink J-Term Thin Edition is running in, it always provides the same terminal functionality.

The WTS Edition - Windows Anywhere

In addition to the traditional emulations, the WTS Edition of HOBLink J-Term Thin Edition also gives any client low-cost access to MS Windows NT4 Servers and Windows 2000 Servers via the RDP or ICA protocols. With this special package, you can work with the entire range of Windows applications running on the Windows Terminal Server, taking advantage of such features as:

  • Local and network printing
  • Application Serving (direct, connection to a specific application)
  • Session shadowing (monitoring other client sessions, Windows 2000 only)
  • Standard support for WTS encryption (up to 128-bit) and SSL (optionally with HOBLink Secure)

Centralized Installation and Management = Reduced Costs

When it’s installed centrally on the Web server, HOBLink J-Term minimizes the time and thereby the costs required to deploy and manage terminal emulations on clients. It let’s you handle all configuration, software deployment and version upgrades quickly and efficiently from your headquarters.

Worldwide Availability

You can connect to the host from any Java capable computer with Internet access - and that means worldwide availability.  No additional software needs to be installed.   The only entry that needs to be made is the Web address (URL) of the Web page that contains HOBLink J-Term Thin Edition.

Data Security and Economy with Encryption and Compression

HOBLink J-Term can compress the entire 3270 data stream, thus saving line costs and speeding up communications. Data encryption is also possible... an absolute requirement for confidential data transmitted over the internet. HOB host server component, "HOBCOM" is a prerequisite for HOBLink J-Term Thin Edition encryption and data compression.
