HOBDB connect - the Solution for High-Performance Access to ODBC Databases

Many enterprises use databases such as MS SQL Server or Oracle which make data available to applications over the ODBC interface. The DRDA Protocol Provides High-Performance in the TCP/IP Network

The connection between the clients and the server on which HOBDB connect is installed is via the TCP/IP protocol. This solution thus takes advantage of world-wide availability (Internet) and simultaneously compensates for disadvantages, such as low bandwidth. By using the DRDA protocol, the amount of data transmitted over the TCP/IP network is considerably reduced, resulting in improved performance. Thus, HOBDB connect optimally combines the benefits of the DRDA protocol and the TCP/IP protocol.

Encryption Means Data Security

With the addition of the HOBLink Secure package, all data sent over the TCP/IP network are encrypted at up to 128 bits. With this SSL-based security solution, you can transport business-critical data safely over unsafe terrain such as the Internet. Flexible Network Connection

Connection via phone lines, WANs and LANs is insured when TCP/IP is used. Because of the global availability of the Internet, you have the possibility of accessing your data from almost anywhere. HOBDB connect represents the ideal solution for any enterprise that wants to provide access to its database world-wide.

Perfect Integration for Many Client Platforms

HOBDB connect provides access to all ODBC-compatible databases while integrating computers with a variety of platforms. On the client side, you can connect to all ODBC applications (e.g. MS Access) using HOBLink DRDA. In the same way, HOBLink J-DRDA makes it possible to use Java applications via JDBC.

HOBDB connect runs under:

HOBDB connect can be installed on the server on which the DBMS (Database Management System) is located. It's also possible to install it on another PC, however.

The following Database Management Systems can be accessed using HOBDB connect:

• Microsoft SQL Server
• Oracle
• Sybase
• Informix
• Adabas
• All other databases that allow access via ODBC
