HOB RD VPN and SAP ERP Systems1. SAP GUI on a Windows ServerSAP GUI is the client with which users access SAP ERP systems. 2. SAP GUI Locally Installed on the Client, Access via the Universal Client from HOB RD VPNOnc can also operate the SAP GUI via the Universal Client from HOB RD VPN. The SAP GUI is then locally configured to access the localhost. The SAP GUI data are SSL-encrypted, compressed and sent to the central office. In HOB RD VPN, two different Universal Clients are integrated as default. One of these is a Java solution and the other is a .NET solution. The SAP GUI can be operated with either one of these. 3. HOB PPP TunnelWith the PPP Tunnel, a component of HOB RD VPN, the client gets full access to all of the central network's resources. 4. SAP NetWeaver with HOB Web Server GateSAP NetWeaver is an application server which is accessed over a browser per HTML. With the Web Server Gate, a component of HOB RD VPN, this HTML datastream can be SSL-encrypted and, as an option, compressed. 5. Printing in SAP InstallationsFor printing, SAP preferably uses LPD, the Line Printer Daemon protocol. However, it is generally very difficult to print over the Internet using LPD, also for SAP solutions.
