Java Database Connectivity The Middleware HOBLink J-DRDA is allows access to DB2 data bases via WEB directly from Java application or a Java applet Zirndorf, 10 November 1998. The Connectivity Software developer HOB, resident in Zirndorf introduces a new Web-to-Host solution. HOBLink J-DRDA, a JDBC driver type 4, based on Native Java and therefore offering platform independence and allowing use by all client after it has been centrally installed on a web server. HOBLink J-DRDA, that has already been certified as 100% Pure Java, for the first time is intended to allow attachment of non proprietary data bases to all DB2 data bases within a heterogeneous environment. HOBLink J-DRDA especially appeals to development engineers of Java based 2 Tier data base solutions (i.e. direct Client / Host communication), .e.g. for tools initiating data base requests: HOB for the first time offers a JDBC driver from the "assembly line", generating the direct transparent link from the developed data base applets or application to the host via TCP/IP and the resident DB2 data bases. All the components can be centrally installed on the web server. In this case web access only requires a Java compatible browser to be installed on the Client. As the developer interface HOBLink J-DRADA supports JDBC 1.2 API. Franz Wiedenmann, Distribution and Marketing Manager at HOB about HOBLink J-DRDA: "Using this new driver the developer's inhibition level to develop data base application under Java decreases dramatically , as initial investment into development of proprietary middleware is down to zero." Naturally HOBLink J-DRDA permits access from existing Java applications and Java applets via Internet, Intranet and Extranet. HOBLink J-DRDA is available as of now and can be downloaded from HOB's web site at www.hob.de/tests/tests.jsp for evaluation. (1734 Zeichen) The German IT organization HOB GmbH & Co. KG resident in Zirndorf was founded in 1964. Back in 1981 the organization has strategically focused on developing and manufacturing platform and protocol independent PC Host and Network Connectivity solutions. HOB's latest development, HOBLink J-Term, written in the platform independent and object oriented programming language Java, allows worldwide access to IBM and UNIX host data via Internet/Intranet from every PC or Thin Client. HOB is represented by foreign branches in France, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and in Austria. Beyond that HOB maintains two sales offices in the USA and two developing organizations in Malta and Moscow. Further information: powerUp International webmaster@hobsoft.com, Last Updated: 03-Jul-07
