Windows Anywhere Zirndorf located HOB announces the release of HOBLink JWT. Zirndorf, 19. November 1999. Today the connectivity expert and software engineering HOB located in Zirndorf announced the release of HOBLink JWT introduced as a beta version in July this year. The 100% Pure Java application has now successfully completed the beta cycle and is now marketed through HOB's wide spread net of distributors. HOBLink JWT = Java Windows Terminal - marks the intensive commitment to Windows NT connectivity of the Zirndorf located company, which is currently involved in completing other solutions in this field. The philosophy behind HOBLink JWT: Windows availability any time, any place. Platform independent, flexible. In brief: "Windows Anywhere". This is how HOBLink JWT opens the door to Windows applications, resident on MS Windows NT servers 4.0 - Terminal Server Edition especially for Non-Microsoft Front-ends. HOBLink JWT is optionally installed locally or on the web server and based on the Microsoft RDP protocol (Remote Desktop Protocol) allows transparent integration of all platforms into the Windows environment for Windows as well as NON-Windows Clients, such as Macintosh, UNIX, Linux, NCs and Handheld PCs. The only tool required is a web browser. Thus you can avoid installing costly server software in need of intensive maintenance. It is a requirement, however, that the destination applications run under the MS Windows NT Server 4.0 Terminal Server Edition. Additionally HOBLink JWT supports Windows 2000 servers. At the same time the software fully accounts for the tendency of Server Centric Computing in modern EDV structures like most other HOB products do. Klaus Brandstätter, founder of HOB and General Manager of the development department comments the product not lacking pride: "With HOBLink JWT we are the pioneers to make platform independent access to Windows applications come true with RDP. Up to date organizations had to invest in costly supplementary Server software. This is not required." For platform independent access from Non-MS Clients to WTS applications HOBLink JWT supports the "low" and "medium" levels of the security mechanisms featured by the MS Windows Terminal Servers. These include a Client-to-Server (RC4) or mutual encryption of data traffic on both ends, which the American Government has authorized: 40 bit is the limit. RDP - The Remote Desktop Protocol is part of the Windows Terminal Server and represents its crucial component. It allows the WTS client to attach to the network and emulates the Windows GUI. Up to date this was reserved to Microsoft Clients. The price recommendation for 10 licenses is approximately $ 1.870 including VAT. In the past HOB had focused on "PC to IBM-, UNIX and DEC computers", and provided software solutions building a persistent bridge to different data processing environments. Since the successful introduction of HOBLink J-Term HOB has become a decisive player in the Web-to-Host Connectivity market.
