HOB RD VPN now also for Windows Vista

The German manufacturer and developer of security and connectivity software HOB today released the new version of its secure remote access solution HOB RD VPN for delivery.

HOB RD VPN is a modular, comprehensive solution package and enables enterprises to provide their employees and authorized external partners – business partners, suppliers, customers, etc. – with easy and secure access to enterprise-internal resources. In addition to internal and external access to applications residing on the company servers, via the Desktop-on-Demand function users can remotely access, over the Internet, their own personal desktop in the company. To do this, the corresponding computer can be switched on or off over the remote connection.

The modifications in this latest version serve primarily the complete compatibility with MS Windows Vista. Also, various components have also been further developed, for example, the SSL-Gateway, an integrated SSL proxy which is responsible for the encryption of the most commonly used communications protocols. This way, access to Web sites can be configured for individual users or user groups.

In addition to this, the SSL-Gateway provides certificate and token management as well as a powerful data compression on the user protocol layer. The user thus gets a high-performance work experience even over a low-bandwidth Internet connection.

Communication between local applications on PCs, laptops or mobile devices and central servers (e-mail, SAP, etc.) is also part of this solution.

This solution stands out over others, as HOB explains, because the access to enterprise servers and Web services is completely clientless – i.e., without installing any software on the terminal (client device) - and users need no administration rights. The supplied applications enable secure remote access to Windows Terminal Server, Web Services, Blade Center, the user’s own workstation and legacy applications.
