It provides platform and location independent host access to Mainframe, AS/400, UNIX and DEC computers via Internet, Intranet and Extranet. Further improvements on HOBLink J-Term, which is now being used by several huge companies throughout Germany with a considerable amount of licenses, focused mainly on optimizing user handling by means of the system administration. HOBLink J-Term V.2.2. now comes equipped with an integrated macro recorder, that is already a component of J-Term's counterpart HOBLink 3270, HOB's traditional Connectivity Software for communication with IBM Mainframes. The macro recorder allows recording frequently used routines, which can be assigned to icons in the menu bar and can be easliy run. Further the IBM typical 3270 IND$File transfer was implemented. The system print functions have become even more convenient: GUI and Escape print is supported for 3270 and 5250, and they allow customizing and print output to any attached local printer System administrators however will be relieved by newly implemented utilities for import and export, which allow adapting group and user specific configurations from Windows NT and Novell NetWare in HOBLink J-Term Control. This also includes the opportunity to assign a default scheme to each pool, to ensure immediate and efficient working. HOBLink J-Term V.2.2. is marketed by HOB's wide spread net of distributors. A 10 User license version costs 2740 $ incl. VAT. The applet has a size of 130 - 190 KB depending on its functions. System requirements: Web server: JVM with JDK V.1.1.; Clients: all Java compatible browsers, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.02 with RMI.ZIP, as well as Netscape Navigator 4.x. HOBLink J-Term has been released to the market in March 1997. Besides browser based host access via Internet, Intranet and Extranet via integrated 3270, 5250 and VT525 emulation the software allows centralized administration of emulations from a Web server, which is accessible by the administrator from every workstation. Users are divided into three categories with their respective rights: Users with limited rights, Power Users with advanced rights and Administrators. The latter of which can make use of various tools to preconfigure all settings for user or pool specific use of the software.
