Value added Connectivity

HOB release two new Connectivity complete solutions to the market: HOBLink Host Edition 99 and HOBLink AS/400 Edition 99

Zirndorf, 15. April 1999. Persistently pursuing its slogan "Connectivity from a single supplier source", the Connectivity experts at HOB announce two new complete solutions to optimize host integration and use of AS/400. The software editions HOBLink Host Edition and HOBLink AS/400 Edition 99, introduced for the first time at the CeBIT fair, are ready for delivery to HOB's business partners as of now.

As the past year approached its end HOB already released its complete solution PC Host Connectivity "HOBLink Terminal Edition 99". The main goal was to offer a terminal emulation series from a single supplyer source, that covers the entire IBM Mainframe and Midrange environment as well as UNIX and DEC computers.

Following the same strategy, HOBLink Host and HOBLink AS/400 software editions are intended to keep simplifying access and processing abilities for information resident on Mainframes and AS/400 and to optimize their integration potentials in LANs.

Therefore the HOBLink Host edition, addressing specifically to the IBM Mainframe market and UNIX systems, besides the emulations HOBLink 3270, HOBLink VT525 and X Server software HOBLink X11 emulation additionally includes a proprietary ODBC driver HOBLink DRDA for DB2 data base access from active Windows applications and HOBLink RJE, 32-Bit software, allowing the use of the PC as an RJE work station (Remote Job Entry). That means legacy data stock can be processed remote from the PC, independent of IBM 3770 work station, which usually require intensive maintenance. At a price of approximately $ 780, the Host edition also features HOBLink FTP, a proprietary SNA stack with HOBLink SNA Stack, HOBLink Distribution (HOB’s central administration and software distribution tool for worldwide "unattended Install" of HOB software), HOBLink NFS and HOBLink AFTP for High Speed data transfer. Supported host operating systems are IBM's VM, VSE, MVS and OS/390 hosts.

In contrary the HOBLink AS/400 edition features all required components for optimal communication with IBM’s midrange technology. For approximately 560 $ HOB offers a complete 5250 emulation with HOBLink 5250, DB2/400 data base access with HOBLink DRDA, HOBLink NFS, HOBLink AFTP, HOBLink SNA Stack and HOBLink Distribution.
