Data secure: IBM Mainframes in the Internet With the new release of HOBLink J-Term and its software for IBM Mainframes, HOBCOM, HOB offers persistent data encryption starting from the applet to the mainframe and reverse. HOB , manufacturer and developer of protocol and platform independent PC Host Connectivity Solutions, focuses its commitment on the Internet terrain. The data encryption, which is integral part of HOBLink J-Term is to protect the data stream between clients and IBM Mainframes in the Internet from any misuse. The technique used for data encryption is based on the Blowfish algorithm, an extremely complex method, that permits a user key up to a length of 256 bits. This method blocks out the major risk in the Intranet, Extranet and Internet of revealing passwords or the entire data stream. Loading HOBLink J-Term - 100% pure Java - as an applet by means of a browser supporting Java, it establishes an immediate link from the web server to the host via 3270-, 5250-, and VT525 terminal emulations. Here's what makes the HOB data security conception exclusive: the data encryption covers the complete distance from the applet - i.e. client - to the host without any gaps. Organizations are free in their decision to encrypt passwords or the entire 3270 data stream while communicating with the host. The only requirement is to install the software HOBCOM on the host, that is running on systems with S/390- and S/370 architecture under the operating systems VSE, MVS or VM. Using the conventional method any data traffic from the web server to the host is completely unprotected or only a partial encryption is applied, i.e. between client and gateway, respectively web server. HOBLink J-Term is among the first one hundred applications worldwide that were developed in accordance with the strict Java regulations to grant 100% operating and platform independence and was certified as "100% pure". Both products HOBLink J-Term and the Mainframe software HOBCOM are available in German, English and French versions. webmaster@hobsoft.com, Last Updated: 03. Jul 07
