The Motto for HOB at This Year’s CeBIT: Enterprise Solutions for Internet Communication

- UMTS - VPN - Security - Managed Web-to-Any-Server -

The focus of the Cadolzburger Connectivity expert and software developer HOB for this year’s CeBIT is concentrated on Enterprise and Connectivity solutions for enterprise communication over the Internet. HOB is presenting its Enterprise Solutions in the special context of UMTS, VPN, Security, Managed Web-to-Any-Server Computing and Managed Server-based Computing.

Cadolzburg, January 31, 2003. The software developer and connectivity expert HOB today announced that at this year’s CeBIT it is going to present fundamental new developments of its software products HOBLink J-Term (Web-to-Any-Server), HOBLink JWT (Server-based Computing) and HOBLink Secure (Strong Encryption). In addition to this, for the first time at the CeBIT, HOB is going to present HOBLink VPN, the new VPN-solution from Cadolzburg. HOB Enterprise Access serves in this context, as well as others, as the management-solution for users and the distribution of the HOB applications, for administrating and configuring the emulations and RDP-clients, and for the integration of the LDAP server and directories. Altogether, the new developments emphasize the current topics UMTS, VPN, Security, Server Based Computing and TCO-reduction as regards communication over the Internet.

The classic HOBLink Terminal Edition has also been further developed: The X11 server software HOBLink X11 with X Server Version 11, Release 6.6 support is now integrated in this tried-and-proven product. Now you can benefit from all the HOB Enterprise Access advantages when using X11.

Overview of the new developments:

HOBLink Secure 3.1

The Strong Encryption SSL cipher software HOBLink Secure with the Web-Proxy Server now supports HP-UX and OpenUNIX in addition to Solaris and AIX, further confirming HOB’s commitment to supporting the world of UNIX. The WebSecureProxy for Windows already provides you with automatic conversion of IPv6 (128-bit addresses used by UMTS) to the still-valid IPv4-standard (32-bit addresses) and vice versa. Thereby, all HOB software products that communicate with HOBLink Secure encryption over the Internet are UMTS-capable. Please, see also the accompanying information about UMTS and HOB software.

HOBLink Secure provides you with complete compatibility to all SSL-terminals and enables you to create your own PKI. A new addition is the SmartCard-support in accordance with the Windows, , RSA SecurID and SafeWord Premier Access standards.

HOB Enterprise Access

With HOB Enterprise Access, you can implement a Managed Web-to-Any-Server and Managed Server Based Computing plan. HOB Enterprise Access enables you to set up and integrate your enterprise IT, using the Internet as backbone; step-by-step, under consideration and integration of existing resources. HOB Enterprise Access provides users with a central access point to the enterprise servers, and performs the central configuration and control of the clients and emulations, central application distribution (application publishing), and the integration of LDAP servers and directories. Most importantly, a reduction of the TCO is to be achieved through centralization, user management and platform-independence of the clients. HOB Enterprise Access brings HOBLink J-Term, HOBLink JWT, HOBLink Terminal Edition and HOBLink VPN together under one uniform administration interface. HOB Enterprise Access is already integrated as standard in HOBLink J-Term and HOBLink VPN, and for a small surcharge can be obtained for the other software products.

HOBLink J-Term V.3.3

HOBLink J-Term provides Web-based Client-to-Any-Server access via browser. 3270-, 5250-, VT-, HP700- and S/97801-emulations are embedded in the Web-to-Host-solution. A new addition is the 9750-emulation for connection to Siemens BS2000 mainframe computers. Thus with just one application, enterprises now have access to iSeries, (AS/400), zSeries, (OS/390), all UNIX hosts, HP 9000, Siemens RM and BS2000 computer environments. Also integrated is the RDP protocol for connection to a Windows Terminal Server. SSH2 for encryption is now also available for the VT-emulations.

Further functional expansions include support for HTTP Proxy, which controls the application-dependant Internet access. In combination with HOBLink Secure, authentication with RSA SecurID and SafeWord Premier Access is now also supported (time-limited access codes). Additionally, HOBLink J-Term has been supplemented with IBM WebSphere Portlets support and Java Beans. HOBLink J-Term already supports the UMTS-standard for mobile computing on a high-bandwidth-basis.

HOBLink JWT V.3.1

HOBLink JWT, now in Version 3.1, opens up access to applications on Windows Terminal Servers to Windows-clients as well as Unix/Linux, Mac OS and OS/2 Frontends.

New functions in connection with the Windows Server 2003 include True Color (8-, 15-, 16- and 24-bit color-depths), port mapping (serial or COM and parallel or LPT ports can be used on the Windows Server 2003) and audio support. Also, the Windows Server 2003’s Local Drive Mapping can be used. SOCKS Proxy and HTTP Proxy support were integrated in the new version of HOBLink JWT for controlling the application-dependant Internet access. Also new is the authentication with RSA SecurID and SafeWord Premier Access (time-limited access codes). To do this, HOBLink JWT works hand-in-hand with HOBLink Secure.

Additionally, enterprises can use HOB Enterprise Access and the HOB Enhanced Terminal Services (Local Drive Mapping, Application Publishing). Just as with HOBLink J-Term, HOBLink JWT also supports UMTS.

HOBLink VPN

A completely compartmentalized and equally performant, flexible access to all enterprise resources over the Internet (e.g. over a DSL-connection) is provided by the new HOBLink VPN, being presented for the first time by HOB at the CeBIT. This new product from the Cadolzburger software developer is composed of client and gateway components. This VPN-solution is equipped with numerous VPN-specific functions like roaming for gateway and clients with variable IP-addresses from the ISP pool and an integrated firewall. HOB Enterprise Access for central administration and LDAP-support for integration in all conventional LDAP structures are integral components of this VPN-solution.
