Zirndorf, Germany, March 9, 2000. The premiere of HOB’s HOBLink JWT, Version 1.2 at this year’s CeBIT was received with resounding success. Significant functions were added to the software, intensifying the company’s commitment in the area of server-based application providing.

HOBLink JWT, the Java client for the Windows Terminal Server, allows connection to Windows as well as non-Windows client platforms, thus making it possible to use virtually any Windows application from any client, regardless of platform. Functionality has been further enhanced in Version 1.2 to include support for the ICA protocol, enabling access to Citrix MetaFrame, as well as support for integrated load balancing.

The load balancing feature is an important supplementary function which distributes the client access workload to the server (processor) with the least load, allowing the formation of server farms. HOB includes this function standard with delivery at no additional cost, which, according to the manufacturer, clearly sets it apart from the competition.

The user can choose to run HOBLink JWT either locally or on a web server. Based on the Microsoft RDP protocol (Remote Desktop Protocol), it integrates all platforms – Windows as well as non-Windows – into the Windows environment, including such platforms as Macintosh, UNIX, Linux, NCs and handheld PCs. The only prerequisite for the client is that it have a browser installed. There is no need for costly, high-maintenance server software, a significant advantage over competitors, says HOB.

HOBLink JWT supports the security mechanisms of the MS Windows Terminal Server by default. Consistently following their "complete solution" strategy, HOB has also announced support for additional security features. For example, as an option you can install the HOBLink Secure encryption software, a HOB development for secure WTS Connectivity based on SSL V. 30. With this add-on you can choose from other encryption algorithms such as RC2 (40-bit), RC4 (128-bit), DES (56-bit) and 3DES (112-bit).

The suggested retail price for a 10-user license is listed at 1615.00 USD.
