The Tolly Group Certifies HOBLink J-Term V. 3.1Following the recent certification of HOBLink JWT by the US-based Tolly Group, the Web-to-host software HOBLink J-Term V. 3.1 has now also been certified to meet the technical specifications outlined for testing.Cadolzburg, Germany, April 9, 2002. The management of HOB, a leading German connectivity software developer, today announced that its Java-based Web-to-Host Connectivity Software HOBLink J-Term has also received the "Up-to-Spec" certification from the Tolly Group for all of the functions tested. The Tolly Group, headquartered in Manasquan, New Jersey, USA, is an independent testing and strategic consulting organization and unbiased test lab for enterprise and industry analyses. A short time ago HOB announced the successful certification of the Java application HOBLink JWT v. 2.2.
The "Up to Spec" certification by the Tolly Group, one of the leading certification institutes worldwide, assures end users that the product fulfills all of the tested technical specifications.
The Tolly Group's analysis yielded the following test highlights for
Moreover, in addition to testing the various host access options for IBM zSeries, IBM iSeries and UNIX servers, the processing rate and the speed of the connection setup for each was calculated. The latter was measured from the time of initialization of the HOBLink J-Term applet in the browser window to the time of the active connection setup with the host. The results showed that the host connection was established in from 1.14 seconds to 5.1 seconds. The Tolly Group technicians also performed measurements of the response times between client and host systems via the Internet. The shortest response time was 0.18 seconds, allowing for the latency in the Internet connection between the USA and Germany. To test the performance range in a WAN environment, the Tolly Group installed HOBLink J-Term v. 3.1 on two different client stations: a 233-MHz Pentium processor with Windows 2000 Professional, Version 5.00.2195, Service Pack 2 and Internet Explorer 6.0 with 128 MB RAM. The second device had the identical hardware configuration; the software platform included the Red Hat Linux Deluxe Workstation 7.1 and Netscape Navigator 4.77. Likewise, installed the HOBLink Enterprise Access Server on a 550-MHz Pentium III with Windows 2000 Advanced Server, which set up a connection to an IBM ISeries Midrange computer or zSeries system via two IBM 8222 Workgroup Hubs. Klaus Brandsttaetter, the company founder and Director of development for HOB commented, "We set very high standards for our software. With this certification our customers receive the assurance from a neutral source that HOBLink J-Term measures up to our promises. The excellent transmission rate results, in particular, guarantee that users can work productively with the host systems – even on a global level." Print outs of the complete analysis will be mailed upon request or are available for download from the HOB server: www.hob.de/worldwide.
