Tolly Group Certifies HOBLink JWT

HOB subjected HOBLink JWT to rigorous testing by the Tolly Group. The result: all of the technical specifications were verified and certified. Highlights include HOBLink JWT's integrated load balancing and extensive print capabilities via LAN and WAN from a variety of platforms.

Cadolzburg, Germany, February 20, 2002. HOB, a leading German connectivity software developer, today announced that its thin-client software, HOBLink JWT, has received The Tolly Group's "Up to Spec" certification. The Tolly Group, headquartered in Manasquan, New Jersey, USA, is an independent testing and strategic consulting organization and unbiased test lab for enterprises and industry analyses. HOBLink JWT v. 2.2 was subjected to rigorous testing and certified during September and October, 2001.

The "Up to Spec" certification by The Tolly Group, one of the leading certification institutes worldwide, assures end users that the product fulfills all of the tested technical specifications. The Tolly Group conducts the testing in its own labs, evaluating each product on a neutral, manufacturer-independent basis in normal industry environments and networks. Based on the reputation The Tolly Group enjoys in the industry, the "Up to Spec" certification can provide customers with valuable assistance in choosing a technologically sophisticated product.

The Tolly Group's analysis yielded the following test highlights for HOBLink JWT:

  • HOBLink JWT, as a Java client, offers multi-user access to server-based applications from a variety of operating systems, including Windows Linux and Macintosh.
  • The software supports local printing as well as network printing on all Java-based platforms, providing easy-to-use print management based on just two printer drivers on the terminal server.
  • Flexible load balancing between the servers within a server farm, allowing faster access to applications.
  • Disconnected sessions are automatically reconnected with the same server.

The product was tested on various platforms in several scenarios, both in a LAN as well as a WAN environment.

"It’s desirable for today’s thin-client software to be platform-independent, have tight, central system administration and flexible printing options, says Kevin Tolly, President & CEO, The Tolly Group. The HOBLink JWT load-balancing solution makes the product especially well-suited for use in server farms and guarantees the Java client's fast, efficient access to Windows Terminal Servers. The Tolly Group analysis shows that, besides the extensive print functions the product provides, the Easy Print feature alone represents a considerable reduction in administration and configuration workload."

"We are very pleased to receive this certification," says Klaus Brandsttaetter, the company founder and Director of development of HOB. "We set very high standards for our software. The certification confirms our strategy in the area of server-based computing on the one hand and, on the other, our customers receive the assurance from a neutral source that HOBLink JWT measures up to our promises. In the meantime, we've added new functions such as enhanced local drive mapping and interfaces to LDAP servers. This gives enterprises the required flexibility to employ HOBLink JWT optimally in any LDAP environment, thus further reducing the administration workload and making HOBLink JWT a strategic product in an environment with server farms."

HOBLink JWT provides access to applications running on Windows Terminal Servers, not only for Windows clients but also for Unix/Linux, Mac OS and OS/2 front ends.
