Gateway Software for the Integration of the HOB PC/Host Connectivity Products into the Internet
PC/Host Connectivity via TCP/IP:The Gateway IBIPGW03
For HOBLink 3270, HOBLink J-Term and all TN3270-capable Emulations there is a new gateway "IBIPGW03". This gateway allows PCs to TCP/IP access to mainframes in an SNA net. The advantages:
How it works: Das Gateway IBIPGW03 has to be installed on an NT-Server. The communication between PC and NT Server is made over the TN3270 protocoll. On the NT server a subsystem has to be installed, which provides the data over APPC for the SNA net. To do this Microsoft SNA-Server or IBM eNetwork Communications Server can be used. The communication with the host is performed over the LUA interface. If HOBCOM is installed on the host, the HOB Y protocoll can be used for the communication. This protocoll provides some additional advantages, e.g. encryption and compression of the data. Database Access via TCP/IPThe Gateway IBIPGW04
HOB offers a new gateway, "IBIPGW04". This gateway enables PCs to access via TCP/IP to DB2 database systems without using TCP/IP on the host site. The advantages:
How IBIPGW04 works: The gateway IBIPGW04 has to be installed on Windows 32 bit system. On this server there has to be a sub-system , too, which provides the data via APPC for the SNA net. Possible sub-systems are HOBLink SNA Stack (HOBAPPC), Microsoft SNA Server, Novell Netware for SAA or IBM eNetwork Communications Server. The communication with the host is performed over the LU 6.2 interface. webmaster@hobsoft.com, Last Updated: 02.12.97
